Goodness Gracious
$10.00
Goodness Gracious tells my story of breast cancer, while being the "new girl" in a small town. I write about the surprising ways people showed up and what I learned about community. I could have written a book, but I decided to make a zine.
This little publication (24 pages) was written during my artist residency at the Sou'wester Lodge in Seaview, Washington.
"Let me know if there is anything I can do to help." People say this when they feel helpless and don't know what to do. They said it after my dad died in 2011, two weeks before Ben was born. I wrote down their numbers but never called. What would I call them for? Can I call if I'm hungry or want a coffee? Can I call if I don't feel like driving? Can I call when I know they have jobs, families and their own problems? What exactly are they offering?"
Mailed copy will be printed greyscale on light green paper.
